Returning Participant Discount Program
Returning participants are an important part of PHAP’s Professional Development Program. Drawing on discussions and observations from previous events, returning participants enhance the learning experience for other event participants. In addition, the presence of returning participants furthers the professional networking mission of the Association, as it helps build connections among different constituencies of PHAP members. The purpose of the Returning Participant Discount Program is to encourage and facilitate such repeat participation, in view of the added value it brings to the Association.
As of 1 January 2012, any individual who has completed at least five days of onsite Advanced Professional Trainings on Humanitarian Assistance and Protection (including standard Core Trainings on Humanitarian Law and Policy and Thematic Workshops on Humanitarian Law and Policy, whether under the auspices of PHAP, HPCR, or HPCR International) may benefit from a 20% reduction in their tuition fee for future onsite PHAP trainings. Along the same lines, any individual who has completed at least ten days may benefit from a 50% reduction in their tuition fee for future onsite PHAP trainings.
Please note the PHAP membership requirement for participation in PHAP trainings (which went into effect on 1 January 2011) still applies. Therefore, if you are a returning participant who is not currently a Member in Good Standing of the Association, you will need to pay the 80 Euros Membership Dues (valid for one year of PHAP Membership) in addition to the applicable tuition fee for the event.

In case you have questions about your past participation and your qualification for the Returning Participant Discount Program, please contact us at trainings@phapinternational.org. We will be glad to look up your participation history, covering all relevant events back to the original launch by the Program on Humanitarian Policy and Conflict Research (HPCR) at Harvard University in 2001.
Conditions
As an independent non-profit association, PHAP operates its professional development activities on a cost-recovery basis. Consequently, only a limited number of seats in each onsite training are available for use under the Returning Participant Discount Program. Individuals who qualify for the Returning Participant Discount Program and register at least two months in advance of a particular event may expect to have a seat available to them at the applicable discounted rate. Less than two months in advance of the event, interested individuals are still encouraged to apply, but should be aware that only a limited number of discounted seats will be available.
The Returning Participant Discount Program may not be combined with any other fee reduction, for example the PHAP Tuition Assistance Program. Terms and conditions are subject to change without notice.
