Opportunities to Volunteer
The activities of the International Association of Professionals in Humanitarian Assistance and Protection (PHAP) rely significantly on the energy, dynamism and commitment of its members. Members are encouraged to get involved in the life of their Association, and in doing so develop new perspectives, skills, and professional relationships. Here is an indicative list of volunteer opportunities within PHAP:
PHAP Members' Committee leaders
PHAP will launch a series of Members' Committees in early 2011, aimed at supporting members in their exploration of specific professional issues and challenges in the field of humanitarian action. The results of these conversations will be presented at the World Congress on Humanitarian Assistance and Protection. Regional facilitators
Regional facilitators assist the PHAP Secretariat in expanding the regional networks and activities of the Association. In particular, they work with PHAP colleagues in a given region in developing a specific agenda in terms of policy research, mobilization and professional education on humanitarian action. PHAP currently seeks volunteers for the position of Regional Facilitators for South-East Asia and the Pacific; the Middle East; and East Africa. Published quarterly, the PHAP Newsletter will provide information on research findings' professional memos on topics related to humanitarian action; information on PHAP activities; featured members’ profiles and interests; and any other information of interest to PHAP members. The PHAP Secretariat is already looking for writers and editors for the first issue. Any member with writing or editing skills in English who would be interested in joining this effort is invited to contact PHAP Member Relations Associate Lena Zimmer.
